Holiday greetings from us at UNMIL

As we all approaching the end of 2007, allow me to wish each and everyone of you, a happy holiday and prosperous year of 2008.
Hope to hear your updates and learning how things are getting on at your end.

Dear Family and Friends,

Here at UNMIL, Leut. Col. Joseph Rizki Prabowo (AF) – Far left, has arrived about a month ago, as successor of Leut. Col. Hilman Hadi (Army) that has concluded his assignment in November 2007. The new Contingent, I believe would be KONGA XXI-5.

The photo below was taken yesterday, at my office. It is a rare occasion that all 4 of us meet in one place. While the chance was there, I took the liberty to have a group photo.

Presently, Both Major Benny Nadeak Poltak (Marines) and Capt. Tri Ambar Nugroho (AF) are finalizing their mission’s check-out process and would soon repatriating back to home country and their respective units. I am wishing them both success and all the best on their future assignments and surely hope that we are crossing one another somewhere down the path.

Things with me, I guess will have to stay put for sometime, while renewed efforts are being undertaken, perhaps by sometime in 2008, I’d be embarking to the new frontier, a new duty station either within peacekeeping mission or elsewhere within the UN system – So guys!, wish me luck!

As we all approaching the end of 2007, allow me to wish each and everyone of you, a happy holiday and prosperous year of 2008.
Hope to hear your updates and learning how things are getting on at your end.

PS: Honey, though numerous calls I’ve made, today, yesterday and the days before – it is not sufficient for me to express how much I miss you and the kids back home. I am looking forward to be home in no time..

Hi there in Liberia,
Luigi, in one morning of my ordinary mornings, I was listening to your interview with Stenji of hardrock FM Jakarta, and was really impressed with your story… I am! It’s nice to had the opportunity of listening that valuable sharing over the radio, in a bus on my way to office. Hope we could be friends in future! Surely I believe that it’s a good start of our active touch base, and hopefully became a valuable friendship from now on and in future. I’m trying to feel and describe what all of you guysz there may have felt.. Your journey is also my “journey” =)

Hai.. Luigi – sy baca berita, di Aljazair kantor PBB di bom.. banyak staf UNHCR dan UNDP yang tewas… ngeri sekali ya.. gimana keadaan kamu di Liberia?

Suasana di Liberia sudah tidak seperti masa chaos thn 1990 lagi kan..? Hati-hati dalam bertugas ya gie,

Selamat datang pak Yosef, wah gk terlambat tuh ngikuti missi UN sekarang, tahun depan harusnya udah promosi lo pak………………..yo wis ora popo sing penting andum slamet, untuk Beny saya lihat perutnya udah buncit, wah pulang ke kandang marinir harus lari tiap hari tuh…………….kalau ngak…….wah gak tahu deh. Terasa waktu sangat cepat hilir berganti, sehingga tanpa ada email dari Mas Prabowo dan Kang Luigi (meskipun kita saling bercommunicasi lewat email ) saya sendiri tidak terfikirkan akan menerima greetings seasonsnya syukurlah setelah sekian lama kita tidak saling bercommunicasi. Personally saya ucapkan selamat datang di Mission Liberia ( Kenapa pemerintah tidak redeployed your reassignment ke MONUC Congo ). Sekian lama kita saling ngobrol waktu di Kinshasa setelah saya deployed ke Kalemie, Goma, Kigoma Tanzania dan terachir di Buakvu Eastern part of Congo dekat Burundi dan Rwanda .
