There has been a significant progress made to include more women in peace and security efforts throughout the United Nations system but “much more can and should be done at all levels,” both at Headquarters and in the field, Secretary-General Kofi Annan says in a report to the Security Council.
I am glad to learn the news, as I personally think that the role of women has been increasingly important, especially in promoting peace and order, like the UN Mission I happen to be assigned in.
“While gender equality is increasingly recognized as a core issue in the maintenance of international peace and security, the role of women in peace processes generally continues to be viewed as a side issue rather than as fundamental to the development of viable democratic institutions and the establishment of sustainable peace,” according to the first annual report assessing progress on an Action Plan to mainstream gender perspectives into the UN’s peace and security efforts.

Btw thanks for your coming mr.luigi...its nice to know you and your blog..
Have a nice fasting!!
well, we've been created as equal to work together... men and women... because both men and women have their own capabilities that can be useful when they're working together at the same level. that's how humans are designed for... to fill each other as equal, because we have our own capabilities that others don't have...
so, it's not a matter of gender, it's more about encouraging women to develop their capabilities. cause for sure, they have more than they could ever imagine... heheheh...
