It has been ultimate commitment for Indobatt to always assisting the community to benefit the most from the existence of UNIFIL in the Area Of Responsibility (AOR). One of the cunning programs run as the spearhead of CIMIC Indobatt is Smart Car along with Information Technology (IT) assistance. During the Smart Car activity held on 19 FEB 2010 in Dier Siriane Municipality building, the combination of learning and fun is conducted. New approach is developed to utilize some educational games in the class as well as researching skills by optimizing computers.
There are more than 50 children participating in the Smart Car. They drop off directly after they return from their school to join Smart Car activity. Some parents also present to witness the joy and learning process that less likely experienced during formal teaching time in the real class. In a room sized 6 × 8 M square the children grouped into six syndicates. They are asked to name 10 different animals using alphabetical blocks and write them in the working sheet. Once they finished their work they proceed to the computers to find the answers of the seven given questions. This is developing team work skills and peer teaching kind of methods for children, because the language is in English so that the children will pick up some words indirectly and their friends will tell them what the particular meaning of the words is and so forth… and the roles of Language Assistant is superb to transfer the knowledge, said MAJ Ro’is Nahrudin The Chief of Indobatt CIMIC. Other fun activity also demonstrated by Indobatt CIMIC Magic Show to entertain the attendees.
Smart Car is consistently conducted in all Indobatt AOR, with the frequency of twice per month in the respective municipality. Not only that the parents find this activity useful but also UNIFIL officials who are visiting the activity stress that such program assist the children and benefit the community at the most. Commanding Officer Indobatt LTCOL Andi Perdana Kahar urging that the quality of Smart Car will always be developed in their practices to meet the advancement of teaching methodology and also the development of IT today therefore the children will be confident using technology to learn new knowledge.
