Nurul is currently resides in Kyoto, Japan and is pursuing her masters degree in International Relations at Ritsumeikan University Japan. She is nothing new to non-governmental organization line of work, as she has been working for various research organizations during her undergraduate study at the University of Indonesia. Upon concluding of her undergraduate, she began her initial career appointment as a researcher at The Habibie Center with exposure to political issues at national level as well as specific issues relating to local democracy. She is fond of asian culture, especially the linguistics. Her three magic words are friends, books and travel. Nurul will be playing an instrumental role with the content development & management of this website. Apart from her other hobbies, she is particularly interested to peace studies, while aiming high to participate as mission’s staff at one of the UN peacekeeping mission in the future.

Genocide and Drought: the "new normal"?
n some part of Africa and Central America (e.g. Guatemala, Kenya or Niger), the long-lasted drought has started to be considered as the new “normal”. The drought now could last for more than 6 years in many East African countries. Of course, the long drought was actually no normal compared to the weather changing pattern in previous years. Two (2) or 3 years of no rain was considered normal for African though it might be disastrous for countries lie in tropical line. Nevertheless, as the weather became unpredictable and unprecedented, people by no means are bound to be affected by the disastrous change.
